He's a bit of a wonderboy. Max Cooper's breakthrough track on Traum, Harmonisch Serie, as well as being a bestseller, had 30,000 views on YouTube across 6 videos - and had Felix from Hot Chip calling it "seriously the best techno track I've heard in the last year".
As well as that release, Max has continued a career as a geneticist at University College, London, while still managing to release on Autist, Perc, Evolved, Shrink, and to remix a host of names including Extrawelt, Dominik Eulberg (#12 on the Beatport techno chart), Kanio, Perc, Moonbeam and beautiful indie-pop band Au Revoir Simone - not to mention his earlier, killer remix of Tim Sheridan's Villain on veryverywrongindeed.
This time round, Tim repays the favour. The original of Max's InhaleExhale is a wonderful bit of time-slipping madness, while still playing with the dancefloor ideal that music should pulse at a speed remiscent of the actions of the human body. But where Spektre's remix takes it tougher - and, we have to say, a great deal breathier and with more panting - Tim Sheridan takes it further toward VVWI's house style - that "no fish is too strange for our aquarium..."
GIG ALERT - for those in London, Max is doing a series of live electronica sets between now and Xmas - keep an eye on Max's Facebook page for more info. And VVWI has its next two gigs at fabric's amazing sister club matter on 7 Nov, with the debut of our new four-piece live band, the VVWI LIMITED LOVE ORCHESTRA, and then VVWI taking over room 2 on 28 Nov with Guido Schneider (and Vitalic doing his London album launch in the main room).
Production, vocals and instruments by Max Cooper.
